A colourful Suffragette tribute chain from the 1920s consisting of 18ct gold links interspersed with amethyst, peridot and pearl beads along its length, as well as five golden cubes.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
It displays a colourful assortment of gemstones and is a lovely, long chain measuring 30 inches. It’s held securely by a spring ring clasp at the end.
